...and now I can't reproduce it either, so you should probably
close it.
My machine rebooted itself a few times right after I submitted the
bug, and I guess that the gcc anomaly was a symptome of something
much, much worse.
I'm keeping the files, and if the error occurs again, I'll run
more thorough tests with gdb before complaining again ;)
