I can confirm that Christian's proposed patch in Comment #6 both fixes the
ICE in the testcase and allowed bootstraps on sparc-sun-solaris2.8 and
mips-sgi-irix6.5 to finish (mips-sgi-irix6.5o32 with gas still in
progress). make check is still running, but this is a definitive
improvement nonetheless.
