You can't use -frepo for static libraries, only executables. gcc just doesn't support 
what you want. 
 
You should look into either 
a) having explicit instantiations of your templates, or 
b) putting templates into header files. 
These are really the only ways to do what you want, in absence of gcc implementing 
the export keyword.
