[Bug bootstrap/8122] severe build problems for i586-pc-linux-gnulibc1

I just checked bootstraping gcc-core-3.3.tar.bz2 (C only) against
my setup with binutils-2.13, gcc-2.7.2.1 and libc-5.3.12 and
bootstrapping went fine.
I can't comment on problems with other setups, particularly later
glibc:s such as 5.4.38 (the vasprintf and __off64_t issues); I don't
see those problems.  Still, your patches do *not* look
obviously correct.
