Synopsis: scm5d6 segfaults when eval.c is compiled with -O2 optimisation

    I think the "testcase" - a whole package - is a little too
    large to find out what actually is going wrong. Could you
    please try to isolate where exactly something is miscompiled,
    and possibly come up with a small testcase that shows this
    problem?
