Thank you very much for your attention in this matter.  

This is not relevant to the mailing list, but I just need to say it:
This is an impressive response time for a "bug" report, and in this case
I have not yet even _filed_ a formal gcc bug report.  I wonder what
certain very powerful commercial organizations would have to say for
themselves. I have worked with MS Visual C++ for years, so I have some
sort of idea what I'm talking about.
