I'm afraid the bug is still there in the current source tree of gcc 3.0.1.
I have just tried to compile with gcc version 3.0.1 20010731 (prerelease)
and it still does not link, giving the same error message.
I can provide the sources, but note that the source archive has a size of 2
MB. If this is OK for you I can send it as an attachment.
