I've already posted the patch that enables GCJ, but not even that is
necessary. Jeff, could you please try a build on Irix with
--enable-shared --enable-threads --enable-languages=c++,java?

Ok, that's good. But there's also the matter of timing; the earlier
we enable it, the earlier we'll get reports in case of failure and the
earlier we'll get broken targets disabled. So, if we don't do it
today, it'll be a week before the next snapshot is out.
Also, it bothers me that what seems to me like the obvious course of
action doesn't even seem right to you :-)
