I'm trying to close bug reports recently on GNATS when I came across the
following:
g77 can't write/read/access direct access files
beyond 2G, this is not a limit on UFS but, it seems,
on the I/O routines in libg2c .
This has class: sw-bug.
Now, as much as I respect the submitter (an old g77 tester, from the
very beginning of g77-alpha, in '92), I think this is really a feature
request.
On a suitably equipped supercomputer (e.g. super.moene.indiv.nluug.nl)
one can create and read 2+ Gb direct access files.
It's just this sticky 32-bit chip that's preventing progress here :-)
Perhaps we can introduce "feature request" as a class for GNATS ?
