It /was/ a real problem a few weeks ago, but then the v3 Makefiles were
updated to pass a --tag argument to solve this.
Are you sure you have the latest sources? I know on another project I
would occasionally get bitten after I'd checked out a specific revision
via CVS; the 'stickiness' would prohibit me from getting future fixes.
