Hi!
(see also the other thread at
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-bugs/2000-08/msg00186.html
for previous discussion)
egcs-20000724 seems to create typeinfo stuff without having
a request for it (at least from a users point of view, i.e.
while not using #include<typeinfo>). This is annoying
due to million of warnings when using extreme template nesting.
Derivatives.h:2507: warning: string length `3541' is greater
than the minimum length `509' ANSI C is required to support
Derivatives.h: In function `const type_info &__tft4[...snipped ...]
__tft4 seems to be compiler private stuff.
I suppose that this error message should not occur when I do not
use typeid myself.
There may be restrictions on string length, but:
I thought one was allowed to have an arbitrary
nesting depth in templates, so these two rules conflict somehow ...
can You bring light to that question?
Please also refer to the following questions in Your answer:
* I would like to get rid of that messages without switching
off the options -pedantic and -ansi. how?
* Is the behaviour described above a bug or a more rigorous ansi
conformance?
