No flags.  Red Hat 6.1 system, with almost no modifications.  See:

for complete build details -- but it's just:

   ./configure --enable-shared --enable-threads

Hmm.  That's very odd -- I didn't turn on any special flags.  But,
backing our your patch did deterministically change the state of the
test-case.
