unable to compile on alphaev56-dec-osf5.0

Dear GCC maintainers,

the compilation of GCC-2.95.2 and of the newest CVS version fails under
Compaq Tru Unix 5.0 (with all available patches applied to the system)
with the following error message:

(shown is the one for todays CVS snapshot):

make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/share/root/source/temp/gcc/newest/compile/gcc'
make: *** [all-gcc] Error 2

(some of the lines above have been cut to allow mailing the whole command).

ASM_FILE_START is a macro defined in serveral .h files in config/alpha,
but I do not have enough experience with porting GCC to be able to figure
out what might need to be changed. I'd be willing to invest some time
in trying things that might help in order to get gcc compiled on this
newest version of OSF, so any help would be appreciated.

Cheers, and thanks for developing one of the most important compilers around,

Joern
