We should seriously consider it given the number of bugfixes I've pulled
into that branch "just in case" and the fact that we haven't set a release
schedule for the next major release.
I'd like to have the vtable thunks stuff fixed (without breaking binary
compatibility), but I wouldn't consider it an absolute requirement.
