We've certainly been having some trouble with the ppc port for the last
6-8 weeks. I believe there is light at the end of this dark tunnel (and
it isn't a train :-)
I believe you should be able to bootstrap the ppc compiler again starting
with the snapshot that was just made. Note that you *may* need an updated
assembler for ppc-linux.

Fixing warnings is an ongoing project. You may not know it, but at one time
there were 7-10k warnings depending on what platform you were using.
