Agreed, something is wrong. Up until now, before I did a
configure I always first set CC=cc. I had thought this was the proper
way to decline to use gcc. I also tried using --with-gcc=no and
--without-gcc, but those didn't seem to work either. The --with* stuff
is ignored, and setting CC overrides mh-hpux. (I'm using gnu
make-3.76.1 if that matters.)
So if gcc is installed but I don't want to bootstrap with it,
what is the proper way to do it and still get the mh- stuff? I'm not
a cygnus style configure hacker so I don't know what's up.
