Hi Simon,
there is nothing specific about makefiles when used in the context of
Fortran or gfortran.
The only thing you need to keep in mind is indeed dealing with .mod files.
I usually use dependencies of this type:
myprog.o : myprog.f90 mymodule.o
mymodule.o : mymodule.f90
(Knowing that the modules used by myprog.f90 are contained in mymodule.f90)
Of course, you can also make the program depend on the various .mod
files directly.
