I first noticed these problems with 4.1.0 - which is what comes with
SUSE 10. However on my home computer I am running the following and
have the same observations:
$ gfortran --version
GNU Fortran (GCC) 4.3.0 20070426 (experimental)
...
FWIW, g95 is similarly afflicted...
