extra gfortran failures on i686-apple-darwin

Mike,
I noticed that we are seeing a significant number of additional
gfortran testsuite failures on i686-apple-darwin* in gcc 4.2
branch compared to the results for gcc trunk...

specifically for the char_transpose_1, matmul_3, matmul_4,
ret_array_1 and temporary_1 gfortran.dg tests. Would you
or any of the gfortran developers have an idea which patch
in gcc trunk fixed these failures on Macintel? It would be
a good idea to try to backport those fixes to gcc 4.2
branch if they can be identified. Thanks in advance.
