I agree with the need to add the option and documentation. I suggest applying the patch to clear the seg-fault but to leave the PR open, with a new title. If Jerry does not beat me to it, I'll try to get the option sorted this weekend.

Its done and I sent it to Steve for his review.

Approved by Steve Kargl, committed patch for pr30408 to trunk after full regression testing on X86-64 Linux. Steve is working up a test case and docs.
