hi all,

i would like to say thanks to FX for all of his help and work on getting 
the patch out.  he spent quite a bit of effort merging my code with his 
for iso_fortran_env.

i checked out the fortran-experiments branch and bootstrapped it on my 
machine.  everything built fine, but one of my existing tests no longer 
works.  i'm hoping to figure out why in the next few days.

i apologize that this patch took so long to get out the door, and for it 
not conforming correctly to the GNU coding style.  thanks to all who are 
now working on fixing the patch.

hopefully the code is useful!
