I don't get these generated changes when running autoconf on branch-4_4
with your patch applied.  Any chance your toplevel config/ directory is
from trunk while you only switched your libstdc++-v3 directory to
branch-4_4?

I'm afraid you should checkout the full branch, not just parts of it,
for backporting.
