I like so much the whole project!
A couple of thoughts related also to your message in the audit trail of
libstdc++/9876: perhaps we should have a doc describing the performance
tracking effort and pointing out in detail some current inadequacies,
loosely inspired by:

http://gcc.gnu.org/projects/optimize.html
(however, at variance with the compiler we also provide tools to measure
the actual runtime performance ;)
