So the correct "fix" involves a compiler change, too.
It is beginning to look more as if this is just another
standard-conforming change to add to the "differences from
gcc-2.x" list. Having been noted this late suggests not
many people are inconvenienced. Their code is easy to fix,
and the error message says where.
This is not to say we shouldn't have a cpp macro defined
when the compiler is run with -pedantic.
