Hi.
I do not enter in the delicate technical points of your postings, but, as a general rule, I think you could consider proposing your contributions in a more "standard" form, that is as:
1- Detailed discussion of the problem, possibly citing the relevant standard items.
2- Proposed solution consisting of:
2a- Changelog
2b- The patch itself
2c- Testsuite patch
Also, always mention the testing environment and the tree againts which the patch was prepared (most probably trunk (3.2 pre), to begin with, not 3.1 or 3.1.1).

About your second posting of today, probably consider splitting the contribution in smaller hunks.
