Could you give us some more information on what you plan to do?
I hesitate to lecture since I don't know how much you already know about
the ISO C++ standardization process. libstdc++-v3 is implementing what's in
the international standard, plus some things that just sort of accumulated.
I'm interested in extensions to the GNU C++ library, but we have to be very
careful about them, because once in, it's almost impossible to get rid
of them. Now, if you meant, "become a permanent part of the /official/
ISO C++ library," which is what most people mean by "STL", then you'll
need to propose changes to the library working group.
