Sweet. I vote that you go ahead and commit this from your tree, since our
respective changes are slightly semantically different. (Yours cleans up
threading, mine cleans up SGI-isms.) I'll do mine after yours is in.
Any objections, anyone? I do want to point out that the changes that
Loren and I have planned to make so far all preserve current semantics
and behavior; there shouldn't be any breakage because of them.
