The patch (and some of its subsequent changes) touches files that don't
exist on the branch.  I'm assuming that I should skip them rather than
copy them wholesale?  Presumably they're testing functionality that still
hasn't been merged for various reasons.

AFAICT, the only differences between trunk and branch in the testsuite
are this patch, and the creation of about two dozen new tests.  Yay.
