We should tie this thread into the "3.1 Patch: Improve libstdc++-v3
for mips-sgi-irix6.5" thread. In
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/libstdc++/2001-06/msg00043.html, Benjamin Kosnik
(bkoz@redhat.com) said to delay fixing the problem unless it is not
solved by the end of the week. Bug reports libstdc++/2992,
libstdc++/2989, and libstdc++/2977 already report similar problems.
