[c++] i686 toolchain additional shared fails

I just sent testresults to the libstdc++ list for two builds. They
both used the exact same source on the exact same host, with the same
binutils, etc.

http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/libstdc++/2001-01/msg00042.html
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/libstdc++/2001-01/msg00043.html

If I force configure for i586, everything's fine. If I let the default
configure deduce (correctly) that I'm on a i686 machine, I get
addional fails (4) in the shared code.

What's up? Is anybody else noticing this?
