That does seem to put a clamp on the "gcc 2.95.2 works well when compiling
this snapshot" bit at the start of the distributed install.html.  Bummer.

Maybe we can grab the CVS l*t* files and put them out on the ftp site next
to the snapshot.  Then the online instructions could read something like,
"we recommend CVS GCC but 2.95.2 works well after you replace the top-level
l*t* files with those provided in _this handy tarball_."  (You'll have to
imagine the blue underlining, sorry.  :-)
