interpreting testsuite results?

Are the testsuites referenced in FAQ 2.4 supposed to all pass successfully,
or are some expected to fail. As i have been trying to troubleshoot build
and installation of the library with gcc 2.95.2 on a slackware 7.1 system,
they never have "all" passed. Various ones fail (for me) depending on which
configuration options i use to build the library. Is this normal?
For example, here are the results when i configured libstdc++ for
"--enable-libgcc-rebuild=/usr/src/gccrebuilddir --enable-debug
--enable-threads=posix --enable-cxx-flags='-fhonor-std'"
