This is a very important point, and I appreciate David bringing it
up. It is indeed critical that V3 work with AIX, which means that
presumably libtool must work with AIX as well.

Alexandre, since you are a libtool expert, would you mind working with
David to see if you can identify and fix the libtool problems?
