Hi all,
I'm sure that everybody here knows that Sun & Ubuntu have
some sort of agreement. As a free software supporter, I would like to
do some documentation on Ubuntu's community wiki as to which all
applications are working with Sun JRE & how they can be used to work
with GIJ . More user-oriented rather than developer-oriented as I'm no
programmer or developer. So here's a brief list I could make using
Galternatives http://www.advogato.org/proj/Galternatives/ (its a
debian product)
1. /usr/bin/ControlPanel :- uses /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/ControlPanel
2. java_vm :- uses /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/java_vm
3. javaws :- uses /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/javaws
4. jcontrol :- uses /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/control
5. orbd :- uses /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/orbd
6. pack200:- uses /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/pack200
7. policytool :- uses /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/policytool
8. rmid:- uses /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/rmid
9. servertool :- uses /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/servertool
10. tnameserv :- uses /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/tnameserv
11. unpack200 :- uses /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/unpack200
So there you have it, there are some tools which do use gij but much
lesser in no. Also there seems to be no gij developer/maintainer for
ubuntu? There is a bug site for ubuntu called launchpad. If you guys
give instructions on the mailing list or off-list or on chat (shirish
on freenode) then it would be nice to take things forward. Please
lemme know your thoughts, suggestions on the above. Cheers! Carry on
the good work.
