Hi, sorry for dropping a contract posting into a discussion, but we're
looking for a GCJ knowledgeable engineer and figured this is the place
to find them. Thanks.
GCJ x86 and SH-4 Initiative
Overview
We have an existing product built on a Java JDK 1.4 code base. We need
a native compilation of this product targeted for Fedora Linux on x86
and ST Linux on SH-4. The project will be implemented in two
iterations: Fedora Linux followed by ST Linux. The existing Java
product depends upon quite a few 3rd party libraries such as Jetty,
log4j and Bouncy Castle. The application is also multi-threaded.
Goal
Our goal is to find a developer or team of developers that can support
the process of compiling our existing Java code base to the target
platforms. The person/team will be responsible for modifying the
backend GCJ/Classpath code to eliminate any existing issues (bugs) or
issues identified during the porting process. Intimate knowledge of the
GCJ/Classpath backend code and architecture is a must.
Technical Requirements
1. Must compile existing JDK 1.4 Java code base.
2. Must compile 3rd party jar files containing .class files without
source code.
3. Must support multi-threading.
4. Must support HTTP, HTTPS and TCP including full java.net
functionality.
5. Must be optimized/tuned for disk IO, performance and memory
consumption. Configuration and customization of the garbage
collector may also be required.
6. Must consume < 16 MB RAM.
7. Need not support JNI.
8. Need not support AWT or Swing.
Timeframe
Fedora/x86 complete 8/15/06
ST/SH-4 complete 9/15/06
Terms
The required work will be performed on a consulting basis and can be
performed remotely. The person/team will need to interact with our
development team to gain an understanding of our product and to suggest
any changes to the product that might be required to enable this effort.
Interested parties should reply to gcj@swarmcast.com with a description
of GCJ experience and country of residence (required). Specific terms
will be provided for qualified candidates.
Inquiries from commercial entities are welcome.
