Hello Ranjit

Thank you for that link. Mixing it with your tutorial and a lot of time for differtent compiling options, I finally got my win to lin compiler.

Any hints on how to build gcj, so that it will run on windows and compile for linux? I think I've to just adapt the target in Ranjits cross-compile howto (http://rmathew.com/articles/gcj/bldgcj.html) in step 2 to i686-gnu-linux.
But what are the needed packages from the gcc compiler? For windows, the mingw-runtime and w32api are needed. What is the equivalent for linux?

I've never tried this out myself, but at the minimum you'd need the C runtime headers and libraries and the assembler, linker, etc. ("binutils").

A somewhat dated set of instructions can be found here:

http://www.thrashmaster.com/developer/crossgcc.htm

but I don't know if this still works or not.

Ranjit.
