compile SPEC JVM98 using gcj ?

Subject: compile SPEC JVM98 using gcj ?

Hi, can anybody give information on how to compile the SPEC JVM98 benchmarks using gcj? There are earlier indications that it is not possible (or at least difficult), but these guys, http://nenya.ms.mff.cuni.cz/projects/corba/oopsla-workshop-04/Submission-Prochazka.pdf , seem to have done it.
