[gnu.org #282944] Re: Paperwork to contribute to GCC

Hello,

This message is intended for the maintainership of the GCC. I noticed
in a recent message to assign@ that someone from gcc@gcc.gnu.org sent
out a version of the assignment form to a person who wanted to
contribute to the project.

I am writing in an attempt to discourage this practice in the future.
The FSF does not have the resources to be certain that every printed out
form it receives have not been altered in some way. We would have to go
through every assignment which was printed off the web and physically
check it for language, etc., before giving it to the Executive Director
to sign.

For that reason, if you choose to distribute the language from the
current assignment form, or from an older assignment form, please add,
as an addendum, that the FSF will only accept assignments on its own
letterhead.

We would like to make the development process as easy as possible - and
I fear confusion will be created without the addendum mentioned. If
there are any questions as to this, or if I can be of help in some way,
please don't hesitate to write.

Thank you for all you do for the community,

 All the best,
Jonas Jacobson
