- Subject: Release of gcjwebplugin 0.0.1
Hi list,
today I released gcjwebplugin 0.0.1. Its a plugin to execute Java (tm)
applets in web browsers like Mozilla, Konqueror and Opera. Its in proof-of-concept
mode and can only be made made work with a patched GCJ from CVS trunk and a
patched Mozilla from CVS.
If someone is interested he/she can download it at
http://savannah.nongnu.org/download/gcjwebplugin/.
I plan to do weekly releases to make the community share our progress. I
hope to get it work with most applets for GCC 3.4 release.
Be warned: the plugin currently does not provide the securtiy infrastructure
you know from other Java(tm) plugins. If you execute (if possible at all)
unsecure applets this can trash all your data or send all your secret work to
one of your competitors.
Thanks to Thomas Fitzsimmons for his enormous help in the developement of
the plugin and the GTK peer in libgcj.
Special thanks to Anthony Green for his soft pressure to do a release.
Without him we would hack and probably never release.
Greetings,
Michael
