I hit this not so long ago testing octave. I seem to recall
- there was a problem with the version of dejagu I was using (1.4.2?)
- it is fixed in dejagnu CVS, and
- perhaps in 1.4.3

After digging around a bit, I finally found out that for
some reason, my runtest from DejaGNU does not accept
"runtest TCLVAR=VALUE" style invocations and that's what's
causing these problems!
