Note that there is an anoncvs mirror of the GCC tree at subversions.gnu.org:

cvs -d:pserver:anoncvs@subversions.gnu.org:/cvsroot/gcc login  
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anoncvs@subversions.gnu.org:/cvsroot/gcc co gcc

This might be useful if gcc.gnu.org is slow.
