I have no objection. Any fixes that don't touch huge amounts of code and
arn't likely to cause more new bugs than they fix should be considered
for 3.0.x if the bug is annoying enough.
The main thing we should be careful about is breaking compatibility:
code compiled against 3.0 should continue to work against 3.0.x.
Maybe it would be nice if we had a volunteer who would keep track of
candidate patches to go into 3.0.x?
