The Java Virtual Machine '02 Program Committee invites you to
contribute ideas, proposals, and papers for invited talks, refereed
papers, work-in-progress reports, and symposia tracks.
Java Virtual Machine Research and Technology Symposium 2002 (JVM'02)
August 1-2, 2002
Marriott Hotel
San Francisco, CA
http://www.usenix.com/events/jvm02
Research papers should describe original work that offers significant
contributions to the state of JVMs. Experience papers should describe
general insights gained from, e.g., porting, integrating, or tuning
JVMs -- insights that can be applied by other practitioners in the
field.
Paper submissions are due February 4, 2002.
Relevant topics for JVM '02 include, but are not limited to the following:
Alternate VM implementation
Hardware implementation
JITs and Execution Engines
Compilation Models
Security and VM issues
Garbage Collection techniques
Small JVM (á la JavaCard and JVM's for embedded systems)
Large JVM and Server Issues (scalability and availability)
Porting Experience Improvements
Performance Issues and Tuning Techniques
Proposed standards, particularly empirical studies
The complete call for participation and submission information can be found at
http://www.usenix.org/events/jvm02/cfp/
JVM'02 will include 2 days of technical sessions emphasizing research
and advanced engineering techniques applicable to the development of
Java Virtual Machines, with a particular emphasis on experimental
results. A works-in-progress session will provide for reports on
projects in their preliminary stages. Symposium Proceedings will be
printed and distributed to attendees.
Awards for the best paper and the best paper that is primarily the
work of a student will be selected and presented at the Symposium.
We look forward to seeing you in August 2002 in San Francisco!
Sam Midkiff, IBM
JVM'02 Program Chair
