Yes, I really do.  I think it is very important to be careful at this
point in the process.

I would like you (and preferably another volunteer, splitting the work
with you, partly to make sure that there's nothing unique to the way
you do things) to split up the platforms, do the tests (with whatever
patch you need to activate the functionality, using the same patch on
all the systems), and report success -- and then check in the patch.

If everything goes smoothly, this really won't be a lot of work.
We're talking about writing the patch (which has to be done anyways),
and then firing off about ten `make bootstrap; make check' commands.

In fact, it's probably taken up about as much of our collective time
to send these emails back and forth as it will for you to do the
tests.
