If use of the documentation in this way is subject to copyright at all,
it would most likely fall under fair use. What you are "copying" (actually
what you are making a derivative work from) is functional -- as set of
APIs -- and not expressive, which is what copyright law is designed to
protect. So it may be that Sun could not claim copyright protection for
their APIs in the first place.
