Reducing footprint of libgcj?

Hi

I was wondering if anyone could give me simple hints for drastically
reducing the size of the shared libgcj libraries. I am considering using
gcj for development of applications that would run on our embedded
platform: it has very little permanent storage space (less so than
RAM!).

My libgcj.so is about 1.5MB (stripped), plus libgcjgc and libzgcj...
We really do not have space for 2 more MB of shared libraries: 100-200K
might be more in the acceptable range. Are there any
simple compromises/sacrifices I could make to bring it down to that level?

Thanks
