Trying to use gcj

Hello,
I've just tried to compile gcj and libgcj. Everything went fine, but
after I compiled some class and actually run it I saw a lot of trash on
my screen. I recompiled it again from scratch and reinstalled it to make
sure that it wasn't for some inconsitencies during compilation and the
bug reproduced.
The problem is basically a lot of trash in the output. Whenever my
program uses System.out or System.err it produces trash along within
it's output (simple Hello.java produces "Hello, it worke^L $(,048<", so
the trash doesn't occur at the end of strings, but rather randomly
inside.).
My platform is Linux, I use the snapshots downloaded yesterday. I
compiled it --with-threads=posix (I have pthreads library). My platform
is Linux 2.2, glibc 2.0.7. What should I try next?
Mike
