I'm afraid I can't help you. This is an egcs or cygwin problem.
You'll have better luck resolving this on either of those lists.

Perhaps this is related to the problems you are having above?
I know other people have had limited success building libgcj with
cygwin. Can anyone help here?

It's `make check', and I believe the egcs docs tell you what to do
with them.
