Algorithm used by BigInteger prime generator?

Does anybody know what algorithm the constructor
java.math.BigInteger.BigInteger(int bitLength, int certainty, Random rnd)
is supposed to use?  I don't think generating random numbers will meet 
the O(certainty) execution time requirement :-(

Any ideas?
