     The first problem has been fixed a long time, and tonight
     I re-read the PR and noticed that I fixed the second 
     problem a while back.
     So, I'm closing the PR.

     (If you find that this is still broken feel free to reply
     and I will reopen the PR.  The "sf.java" test program
     works for me, though, and I distinctly recall encountering
     and fixing this exact problem.)
